All You Can Do is Write and Try

Writing Blog

Although dated 2013, I read this article today and still find it completely relevant to 2018. It gives some incredible insight into the challenges faced by some famous authors to actually get their work published in the first place (I also like the fact it tells you how much they earned and, well, I can always dream…)

Anyway, it gives real clarity to why I call myself the probable writer. Even though this article suggests desperation by protraying how difficult it is to get noticed. I also believe it contains a message of hope and never giving up.

As William Dietrich says “All you can do is write and try.”

What is the point of me writing (what I believe are) beautiful, true, honest and heartfelt stories only to leave them on my computer and regrets in my heart. That old adage: “If only” is apt. Do I want to regret not publishing my stories, not expressing to the world those stories that torment my mind? Do I want to lie on my death bed and think if only…

Is my “if only” moment slapping me in the face right now? Will I allow my fear to override my passions as always? Right now, the fear of regret had led me here. But, with a good book and more than a little luck (it seems), perhaps one day I will be known for having touched someone’s life in more ways than a wife, mother, lover, daughter and friend. Perhaps I will have touched someones life as only your favorite authors can.
