I have waited four years for the conclusion of this trilogy. Four long years, whereby, the first two books haunted my thoughts, and I was desperate for the final instalment. Once the final book had been released, I reread the first two books to fully appreciate the story. They didn’t disappoint the second time around. They were gripping, thrilling and heartbreakingly beautiful that I consumed them in record time. This is the creative genius of Jay McLean. These books are so brilliantly written that they ate away at my soul, so much so, that I relinquished control to the story. I was consumed by every line, every page and refused to put the book down until I had read and savoured every last word.
The final book, Destructive is everything I wanted it to be and more. It did not disappoint. Destructive is explosive, exciting, and action packed. It raised more questions than answered, then by the end, it answered them too. There were so many plot twists, that I had no idea how things would play out till the very end. But it wasn’t all about the action, it was also the characters. The story, told from the POV of the three main characters is raw, honest, full of truth, heart breaking sadness, pain and doubts. The first two books only drip fed half of the story, this book gave you it all and more. I willed all the characters to survive the crazy, wondering if anyone would actually get a happy ending. To say it was a rollercoaster is an understatement, to say this book will stay with me a long time is a lie.
In truth, this book will stay with me a lifetime, and I might just have to reread the trilogy a few more times while it does. This series is definitely in my top ten of the best books I have ever read.
